The Emergency Management team, part of UBC Vancouver’s Safety & Risks Services (SRS) is committed to supporting and enhancing the university’s institutional strategy, resilience, and reputation.
The Emergency Management team is responsible for directing a diverse and comprehensive emergency management program designed to protect and care for students, the wider UBC community, and neighbouring partners, including local First Nations, the University Endowment Lands, and the University Neighbourhood Association. The university, which has adopted the British Columbia Emergency Management System (BCEMS), promotes a coordinated, organized response and recovery to any type of emergency incident.
Safety & Risk Services is a department within the VP Finance & Operations (VPFO) portfolio, ensures the university operates effectively and safely by identifying and reducing risks that could affect the university’s ability to achieve its academic mission.
