UBC’s Mass Care exercise comes to life in a full set up
After several years of planning, Safety & Risk Services’ Emergency Management team was able to see the plan come to life in a full set up. The team of UBC staff and volunteers set up registration, group lodging, and feeding services, including the set-up of 260 emergency cots, and invited the community to experience what supports evacuees could access during a disaster.
Are you prepared for an emergency?
Help increase the campus community’s resilience, emergency awareness and preparedness by joining us on September 5-7. Find our Emergency Preparedness booth on Imagine UBC at Main Mall on September 6, and Ride the Quake Cottage, an earthquake simulator at University Commons outside the AMS Student Nest on September 6 and 7.
Take part in UBC’s Mass Care Open House & Preparedness Fair
Join us at UBC’s Mass Care Open House & Preparedness Fair on June 28 to find out what UBC is doing to prepare for major regional emergencies and how you can be prepared. Participate in the Mass Care Open House as a volunteer ‘evacuee’! Your participation will allow us to simulate an emergency situation and practice the activation of Mass Care.
Did you Drop, Cover, and Hold on for the annual Great BC ShakeOut?
The Great BC ShakeOut is an annual province-wide earthquake drill for everyone to practice how to protect themselves and to be better prepared in the event of an earthquake. Thank you to everyone who took part in the earthquake drill and participated in the events! A reminder to update your contact information on Workday or Student Service Centre, and also to download the UBC Safe Vancouver app.
Get Ready to ShakeOut
On October 20, 2022, practice how to DROP, COVER and HOLD ON at 10:20 a.m. during the annual Great BC ShakeOut.
